Long time running

Wow, it certainly has been a while since I last wrote a blog.

Alot has changed since then, and for the better.

I'm doing well in school and am doing some freelance work for both the Miramichi Lead and Bugle Observer.

I'm doing color commentary for Rogers TV and I will eventually be doing some radio with the Slammers some time this season....hopefully.

I'm pretty happy to be working in all four mediums of journalism and I really like the photography aspect as well.

I hope eveyrone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Woodstock tomorrow

As the Summer end, School begins.

I'll be heading back to Woodstock tomorrow morning.

Looking forward to what the year brings and to see everyone again.

It's crunch time

Baseball playoffs have started and my team is down 2-0 in our best of seven series.

I think was hurt us so much was we haven't played in over two weeks and we haven't practiced much either.

We have practice today and tomorrow and I feel confident heading into game 3 and 4 on Saturday.

I hope I get to play more than 3 innings, it's pretty frustrating when you work hard all season and you don't get the playing time you should be getting.

Anyways, hope to pull off a pair of wins this weekend, last thing we want is going down 3-1 or even worse, 4-0 ending our season.

Summertime In The Void

We've reached the mid way point of the month of July and I still have no job.

I've seen a few part time jobs openings here and there but I don't want to take much of chance on it because mom recently got an operation and no one else can really do the house work because Dad and Olivia always work.

I still find ways to make some money here and there ad i'm not a big spender so that helps too.

Mom is doing well now though.

I've calmed down a bit since my last blog entry, I don't find myself as frustrated and i'm playing much better baseball now.

I've been on a tare lately and the team isn't doing too bad despite being so young, we're 3-12 now but the future looks bright and I think we might even make an upset in the playoffs.

In the month of July i'm 4-14 at bat and playing pretty good defensively.

Last night we had a game, which we lost 5-3 and I had a single, a walk and two runs scored in two at bats.

With the summer starting to wind down, i'm looking forward to yet again go to school.
I was thinking about going to STU in two years and getting my degree, so we'll wait and see what happends.

reflecting on the school year that was....

After grad I took a look back on the school year that was and reflected on it a bit.
I have to admit, it wasn't an easy year.
All my assignments went well so I was hoping that if I woould do well in school that most things would fall in to place, but that wasn't the case.
I struggled with allot of things outside of school this year, more than I have in years past.
It proved to be quite frustrating.
I know everyone goes through it, but I kept finding myself behind the 8-ball so to speak with how I was handeling things, especially in the past month or so.
Everytime something happends I take it too much to heart and flip out and almost got myself into fights a few times.
Theres more things to mention, but I don't really feel like saying much more at this point.
I'm just looking to bounce and hope for the best.
I'm not trying to make any excuses for how I've been acting, i'm just telling eveyone why i've been doing so, even though I realize it's not right.
I wish everyone the best and hopefully i'll see you all soon, thanks for all the memories to the Journalism class of 09!

Stuff

Things aren't going so good I guess.

I officially told my editor i'm not coming back for the Summer.

After finally being told that I wasn't working hard enough and that my odds weren't good to get a summer job there I just decided to forget about working there for the summer.

I did enjoy it somewhat and the experience was good, but I thought some things were pretty bush with what they did.

I realize now that print isn't really want I want to do, I thought i'd like it, but I realize now that it's not for me at this point and time with my life.

I know what you guys are thinking and probably think this is a bad decesion by myself, but I don't care really.

Basball has started and it going good so far despite my team starting off the season 0-2, we lost 12-2 and 7-2, but it was to the top two teams in the league.

I'm hitting the ball harder and farther than I have in my life and i'm batting leadoff (first batter)
for the first time since I was 14 or 15.

I have one hit in three at bats, so that's pretty good by my standards since I usually start off quite slow.

I'm already looking for a summer job, hopefully I find something anyways.

See you all in two weeks.

Good practice today

Well I'm not playing AAA this year for the Chatham Junior Ironmen, I got cut so i'll be playing in Chatham head this summer playing Intermediate (which is what I played the past two seasons).

It should be an interesting season, we are going with a very young team, I think the average age of our team will be 20, with me being the 5th or 6th oldest on a team of about 16 players.

We have some good guys there so we should be fine, I can see us stealing a few games here and there.

First off at practice today we had a catch, then we broke into two groups and took ground balls, now mind you i'm an outfielder so it's always a strugle when I we do ground balls, because the ball is usually in the air or rolling slowly when the ball gets hit to us.

Did ok with the GB's so we moved on to the next drill that was hitting balls to the outfielders which I did good, my arm has improved and my throwing is much better.

After that we did hitting, i'm not the most powerfull hitter, but I always hit for average which means I usually make contact and get quite a few singles.

It was just a batting practice so someone just threw about 20 balls at you and then you'd hit them.
I hit about 1/2 of them up the middle, and solid too.

The regular season starts next week, i'm looking forward to it.

Practicum is going good, can't wait for it to be over though.

First Week of practicum in the books!

Things got off to a bit of a rocky start on Monday.

I had to go in for work at 9, but I accidentally sent my alarm for 730pm and not am so I was late for work n my first day, but I called before my shift started so things turned out ok.

Second day my alarm didn't come on but I woke up and make it to work on time. I know have a new alarm clock that I havn't had any trouble with.

The week went really well and I got alot of compliments on my articles this week too.

I had baseball tryouts on Monday night, what a disaster that was.

There was still snow along the fence in centre field, it was windy and cold too.

I don't have the best arm and the wind was blowing in my face so I had to throw the ball harder than I usually would to reach the person so i wounded up having a sore shoulder for the next two days.

To make matters worse, I hurt both my knees running for fly balls, but they are a bit better today so I should be good for Sunday afternoon.I hope anyways.

Hope everyone is enjoying their practicums.

Practicum starts tomorrow

It's been well over two weeks since I've written my last blog.

It's been a fairly good two weeks.

I did really good this year with school, which suprised me, because I didn't expect to do so well this year after struggling so much last year.

I start tomorrow at the Miramichi Leader, i'm looking forward to it. I also have baseball tryouts tomorrow night at 6:30.

I don't know how that's going to go, but i'm going t give it a shot.

Big day tomorrow, can't wait to get things started!

Doc update

I have over 9 minutes on my timeline for my tv doc, which suprised me since I didn't think i could have done so much work in so little time.

All I really have to do is add a few more clips and some effects and i'm done.

I still haven't put my IJ assignment in Windows Movie Maker yet, but I should be able to finish it today, if not, for sure by tomorrow. Well I don't really have a choice to finish it by tomorrow since tomorrow is the due date.

Tired today, and I don't feel like working on stuff, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Second last blong of the year....

Well the school year is going right down to the wire now! I can't beleive how fast the year has gone by.

It feel like just yesterday we were starting our second year of journalism and I was wondering how the hell I was going to pass anything since I had such a hard time last year.

But I guess all those extra long hours at school and working my ass off worked out pretty good for me.

I know i'm brutal at blogging, but I try.

Back in the stock

Just got back in Woodstock around 9 pm, just relaxing watching the Sens game, which they are losing and that spells the end of the season for them.

The Timberwolves are done too, after losing 5-4 to Summerside, they lost the series 4-0. It was really tough to watch.

It's difficult watching a bunch of guys work their asses off all season long and lose this way, but.... that's the way she goes.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow, good night.

Weird....

All day today I felt kinda blah, for what reason, I don't know. It must be just one of those days I guess.

I went to school around 12-1230 and worked a bit on my doc, but didn't do very much. I did make myself a bit of an intro but found myself getting frustrated and distracted, so I went home.

When I got hom, I played a countless amount of NHL 09 on my x box and went to the gym around 7.

After coming home from the gym, I got this sudden burst of energy and decided to go and work on my doc.

I worked on my doc from about 8:50pm to 10pm and I now have close to 2 minutes on the timeline and that's just by using a small part of a 10 minute interview, so things are looking up so far.

I'm heading home in the morning and returning on Monday, just to relax and clear my head a bit. No school work or anything.

I have my interview set up next week for my Multimedia piece so things are looking good for the end of the year.

Monday, March 23, 2009

bloggin!

It's off to the legislator in Fredericton tomorrow, i'm looking forward to that. It should be an interesting time.

It's going to be different anyways. I always wondered what it was like in there.

Another long bus drive today from Miramichi to Woodstock..... blah. Oh well you gotta do things in life that you don't always enjoy and you just gotts deal with it.

Got some interviews and sequences done for my doc, which was quite productive.

I was pretty happy that Miramichi took game 7 over Woodstock. That has got to of been the best game I seen in my life, by far.

Either team could have won that game and the fans were really treated to an amazing series between these two teams.

I seriously thought my heart was going to stop, that's how great the game was.

Miramichi is trailing their series with Summerside 1-0 with game 2 tonight in Miramichi.

Summerside has alot of firepower, but they are undisciplined which will come back to haunt them in the series.

Miramichi has alot of heart and gritt and for the first time in their nine year history, the people of the Miramichi are behind them one hundred percent and there is nothing but positives comming from the community about the team.

It's not very often you get teams like that, lets hope they can pull it off.

WOOOOOOOOOO!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

You all know why I said it. I don't need to explain.

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

work, work, work.....

I'm heading home this weekend to do some filing on my doc.

Yes, another doc about the Miramichi.

My doc is about the history of baseball in the Miramichi area and why it's been so succesfull over the years.

I'll also be attending Game 7 of the Miramichi and Woodstock game. Should be a dandy.

History isn't in Miramichi's favor, but I think they will overcome it and take game 7.

If the game goes into overtime, the paramedics better have defibulators ready and have all the Ambulances along the north shore on call because I don't know if my heart can take that. Haha

My heart was pounding during the overtime in Game 1, you can only imagine how it's going to be in Game 7.

Rattled......

Seeing Miramichi lose 8-5 to Wooodstock tonight was a tough pill to swallow.

It was especially tough seeing them score in their own net for the second time in as many years to the Slammers.

David Hicks shot the puck his own net last year, in overtime against the Slammers in game 5 and the Slammers went on to take the series in 6 games.

I'm sure everyone in the Carleton Civic Centre, on the Miramichi and Woodstock broadcasts heard my "F-bomb" tonight when Miramichi put the puck slid into the vacant Miramichi net.

It's difficult seeing such a good bunch of guys, who worked so hard, who i've gotten
to know fairly well over the year and some who i've known even before they played with the Timberwolves, lose that way.

Brad Dyke, the Miramichi goaltender, looked pretty shakey after the goal, Dyke got pulled after the fifth goal.

Dyke is a tough kid and has battled hard all season long and will bounce back on Sunday afternoon in Miramichi.

This team has the want and the desire to win the league this year. More than any other team out there, by far.

And just like the City of Miramichi has done so many times in it's history, this team will bounce back and overcome every challenge it will face.

Movie music

Has it ever happenned where you heard a song on a movie and you keep listening to that song over and over again because you find it catchy and the song just suits that scene so well?

Probably not, because i'm crazy like that. :P

Well, it happenned.

I was watching The Big Lebowski the other night (for about the 5th time in about two weeks)

Theres this one scene where Jeff Bridges (who plays the main character) is driving around town rocking out to CCR's Looking Out My Back Door and he's taping on the roof of his car to the beat of the song.

Today I bought myself the Best Of CCR and I haven't stoped listening to CCR since I seen that movie.

For whatever reason I listen to The Who's-Baba O'Riley quite a bit too. I guess the song kinda reminds me of myself in some ways.

Not much of a blog, but hey, that's the way she goes sometimes.

Cheers

Bloggin again!

After a week off, I gues sit's time to start blogging again.

I feel much more motivated now that i've had a week off. I went skiing at Sugarloaf mountain with my sister and one of my classmates I graduated with who I haven't seen in several months.

I got the chance to see a bunch of friends I haven't seen in a while too, so it was good to have have a little say and see that everyone is doing good.

It's 4 am, so I probably should be going to bed. Why I stay up so late I have no idea.
Well, I watched The Big Lebowski tonight, so that's one of the reason's i'm up so late.

blah, time for bed, hope everyone had a good March break and i'll see you all soon.

Done!

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! All finished.

Finished my Internet Journalism and tweaked with my TV Doc so now it's just relax for the next few days before I head home!

It's going to be nice to have that break that's for sure!

Hope everyone has wonderfull March Break! I'll see you all in a week or so.

Cheers!

Quote of the day:" Theres no shore like the north shore that's for shore!"

Good news!

I did really well on my doc, Paul really seemed to like it. I know I have a few adjustments to make for Friday but i have a feeling things are going to work out.

It certainly is good to see since I wasn't doing so good last year in TV and Print.

Worked a bit on my Internet Journalism assignment, that's going along smoothly. I just need to figure out a song to put in my peice, but i'll figure it out.

I don't know how much work i'm going to get done in the morning with the Student for a day, but i'll find a way. I usually do.

School finishes for March break in two days so it's going to be nice to have a break.

Blah Weeekend

What a weekend! And not for anything positive either.

Miramichi lost three times this weekend and my Sens lost twice so it made for a long weekend.

Miramichi lost 4-3 in a shootout to Woodstock on Friday night win which was a good game from both teams.

Then Woodstock goes to Miramichi and beats them 9-2 on Saturday night.................. Yeah great way to play before playoffs start, especially since that's most likely who Miramichi will face in the first round.

The Timberwolves bounced back with a better effort against Dieppe this afternoon, despite losing 2-1.

They played a much more solid game than on Saturday. I listened to the game via the internet and the announcers were saying their effort was much better, which is a plus.

Miramichi was also short four players as Matt Milson and Jason Bergeron missed the game with injuries and Keith Bombaugh and Graham Telford were suspended.

Two more regular season games left for the Timberwolves, one on Wednesday against Dieppe and on Friday against Restigouche. Should be an interesting week.

Sens lost to Montreal 5-3, didn't really watch much of the game. Didn't seem like they showed up though.

Nice trade Ottawa made by picking up Chris Campoli and Mike Comrie though, it may not be a big deal this year but at least it makes the team stronger for next season.

With that I am all caught up in my blogs, feel behind a bit. No Idea how that happened but it did and now I bounced back, just like my teams will ;)

Done my doc!

Yes an other blog about my doc, but hey, it's pretty much all i've been working on in the past month so why not blog about it some more eh?

I'll more than likely find a way to put some hockey in here too, and i'll talk about some internet journalism stuff too :P.

Well, i'm finally done my doc. They are so time consuming it's not even funny. You hardley even have time to work on your other assignments.

I manage my time fairly good, but I still barely finished and didn't really get all the metetrial I wanted, but a pass is a pass and i'll take it.

I have no idea how the next doc is going to go, especially since it has to be from 8-10 minutes in lengh.

Sometimes, I wonder about that course.........

The Internet Journalism course is going really well. I really like it. I always enjoyed doing assignments in radio so adding pictures, music, text and video adds even more fun to it.

I managed to get my interviews done with the players for the Timberwolves tonight so that's done too.

Lost 4-3 in a shoot out to Woodstock, talk about a good back and forth game, wow. It sucks that the Timberwolves lost Jason Bergeron for a while, with an injury.

They missed his speed and scoring tonight.

One more week til March Break, can't wait. It's going to be nice to head home and relax for a week.

Just think, once hockey season is over baseball season will start and i'll be blogging about that. I'm sure it will keep all you sports nuts happy anyways. :P

Big game tonight for the Miramichi Timberwolves

With only six games left to play, The Miramichi Timberwolves are in a dog fight for first place between the Summerside Western Capitals and the Woodstock Slammmers.

The Timberwolves face the Western Capitals tonight at the Miramichi Civic Centre at 730 pm.

At the start of the season I didn't expect the Timberwolves to be battling for first place. I was hoping they would but it didn't seem very likely.

Heck, I didn't even think Woodstock would do as good as they are doing, especially after losing so many players.

It just goes to show how strong the MJAHL is and how good the coaches are at developing players.

With a win tonight the Timberwolves can take over soul position of first place in the Roger Meek Division.

But, they would only be one point ahead of Summerside and the Timberwolves have a very tough weekend ahead, with a home and home against the Woodstock Slammers on Friday evening in Woodstock and Saturday evening in Miramichi.

The pack  travel to Dieppe on Sunday for a 230 pm tilt against the Commandos.

It's going to be an exciting weekend of hockey and hopefully they can pull it off.

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Yes, another blog about my doc

Well I guess it's been a little while since I last wrote a blog........opps

Oh well, i'll have to catch up with four blogs this week, way she goes I guess.

Almost done assembling my doc on final cut (thank god!)

I just need to do my voice over and put everything together. I hope putting my doc together goes smoothly, it probably will though.

I hope to have it mostly done by tonight so tomorrow i'll just worry about putting the visual effects and some music in tomorrow, rather than having to set the whole thing up on the timeline and do the music and effects too.

Things look good right now.

Busy weekend ahead

Well it's Friday, everybody loves Friday's haha. Am I right?

Slammers game tonight against the Amherst Ramblers, should be interesting.

I actually went to school with a Defenceman for the Ramblers until I was in grade four, so hopefully I can have a chat with him after the game. If I get the chance.

Working on my docs tomorrow and an article i'm writting for the Miramichi Leader. Plus I have to finish a story for print class.

Oh well, I've got nothing else to do tomorrow but work on my assignments.

Plus I have a damn cold that wont seem to go away. I'm going to have to load up on fisherman's friends again.

Slammers game again tomorrow night, i'm not going to take any pictures though. I just want to watch the game. It's completely different watching it through a camera lens than seeing it with your own eyes.

Plus it's close to playoff time and I wanna see exactly how much the Slammers have improved since the start of the season.

The real test for the Slammers will be when they have a home and home Miramichi on back to back nights in two weeks time and host Summerside the week after.

Summerside and Miramichi are tied for first in their division with 64 points, while Woodstock only trails by two points.

It's going to be a wild finish to the end of the season. And an other busy week in the life of Jeremy Trevors.

A bit frustrated

Well, it's that time of the year again. We're now into the dog days of school year as I like to call it.

It's something similar to the baseball season in August when they call it the dog days of summer.

The days drag along, you get tired you don't wanna get up and do anything. You just kinda want to laze around and do nothing.

I've been feeling like this for the past little while. Maybe i'm just tired from going to the Miramichi three times in four weeks? I don't know.

My Documentary assignment is going well. I have all my footage and sequences and we got a week extension on it so that's a plus.

Internet Journalism is going good too. Got 85% on my last assignment. To be honest, I wanted a higher mark. I feel I can do better than what I did.

It's always the little things that seem to prevent me from doing 90's. Oh well, way she goes sometimes.

Print is going fairly well right now. Having some issues with the course it's self but it's out of my control.

Looking forward to my working experience in April. I want to show what i'm actually capable of doing outside of school.

These last few months should be pretty interesting........

Done shooting my doc!... well almost

I'm almsoit done shooting my documantary on the Miramichi Fire!

I just need some shots from around town where old buildings used to be.

My bus leaves at 2 in the afternoon so i should be good to do some shooting in the morning.

It's nice to finaly get this off my shoulders and just relax for the night and watch the suuper bowl with a bag of chips and some beer lol.

Hopefully the Steelers will win.

Not looking forward to the long bus drive tomorrow I can tell you that much.

It's going to be a long 7 hours. ( 4 hours driving and 3 waiting in Fredericton)

Looking forward to heading back to Woodstock and seeing everyone on Monday.I hope all is well with everyone.

Big win for the Miramichi Phantoms

The Miramichi Phantoms of the North Shore Senior Hockey League are in a dog fight with the Caraquet Acadiens for third spot in the south division.

After deafeating the Lamèque-Shippagan Pêcheurs last night 6-3, the Phantoms moved into sole posetion of third place, but remain olny two points of Caraquet.

The Phantoms are playing much better hockey than at the start of the year.

They struggled for most of the season after losing two of their top four scorers and one of their defenceman who led the all d-men in points and the end of last year.

Many times the Phantoms were caught running around in their own zone and gave up way too many scoring chances.

In the past three or four weeks the Phantoms have turned it around.

Stanson Donovan and Rock MacDonald have returned to the team after missing the first half of the season.

The Phantoms must finish ahead of Caraquet to avoid playing Tracadie-Sheila Alpines in the first round.

The Alpines have only lost one game all season.

Some good news for the Phantoms if they do play Tracadie is ,they had the Alpines down midway trough the third period before blowing the lead.

So if the Phantoms can put together a full 60 minute effort against the opposition, they should be alright.

John Murdock had been stellar for the Phantoms in net.

The young 18 year old has been making several key saves game in and game out and has been the reason why the Phantoms have been keeping things close.

Most people thought the season would be over after starter Nick Hardy broke his jaw after getting a puck in the face.

But Murdock is proving everyone wrong.

The Phantoms are on the road tonight to take on the same Acadiens who only trail them by two points.

If the Phantoms can win tonight or gain a point and if Caraquet can lose to Tracadie tomorrow night, the Phantoms are all but assured third place.

Miramichi should be able to beat Lamèque-Shippagan, if they play eachother in the playoffs, as the Pêcheurs are in 2nd place in the south divison.

It certainly is nice to see hockey on the river is improving and the fans are stating to show up at the rinks too.

Winter Carnival Week

This week was winter carnival week at the College. According to most people I talked to it went well and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

I think it's good that we have a winter carnival. It's a nice way to relax and get our minds of school for a bit and have some good laugh with everyone else at the school.

You have to give a ton of credit to this years student council for making all of this stuff happen to.

Things didn't look so good last year, but this year's student council really steped it up and gave alot of their time and effort for all of the activities.

The All-Star ball hockey game turned out good, there was a decent amount of students in the stands and both teams put on a good show.

The pie-throwing contest raised money for Mother Against Drunk Drivers(MADD).

The Kareoke was a hit as well.

All in all, a good winter carnival all around and hopefully next year's will be just as good.

Superbowl

I'm not a really big football fan, but ever since I moved to Woodstock. I started watching it way more often.

It helps when you have friends who are football fanatics too(thanks Ryan).

I'm cheering for the Steelers in this one.

Their defence is by far the best in the league, the Steelers also have a very underated offense that can go and get the job done, alot of people don't realize that.

I may not have an expertise in football, but being an athlete myself I can understand that it takes hard work, good defence and offense to win games.

The Steelers defenitly have all three.

I was impressed with how the Steelers managed to rip apart the Baltimore Ravens their offense and blitz the defensive line to get to Joe Flacco.

The Ravens had the #2 defence and The Steelers made them look like they had the #32 ranked defence in the league.

The Cardinals have a young talented team with a fair amount of depth, but the Steelers have 20 players who went to the Superbowl, while the Cardinals only have 5.

This will play a huge factor in the finals.

As long as the Steelers offensive line does a good job of protecting Ben Roethlisberger (which they probably will) This will mean tons of points on the board for an already well rounded team.

Another week of school finished!

Already two weeks gone by since coming back from Christmas break..... that went by fast.

If the weeks keep going by this quick, the second term is gonna fly by.

At first this week was tough. I had to find a Documentary idea for TV and nothing was really clicking, so i couldn't really get anything done.

I finally found a good subject to do my Documentary on as I chose the Great Miramichi Fire that destroyed the Miramichi in October of 1825.

I wasn't really able to find any information about the subject at first, which worried me some.

But now I have one interview set up and maybe a 2nd and 3rd too.

The second person said they weren't 100% sure if they could do it, but were willing to give me some information about the fire nonetheless.

I'm hoping to get most of this done when I go home next weekend. I can tell ya one thing, she's gonna be a busy week at home on the Miramichi, it's worth it though.

All that hard work is starting to pay off. I know things are going to fall into place, it's just a matter of time.

Good News for the Miramichi and area

For the first time in along time, the Miramichi has some positive news about job opportunity's in the area.

The former UPM mill was bought by a Norwegian solar panel company last week.
Hopefully this will create more jobs for the area as most people in the Miramichi are moving out west to find work.
When UPM closed on December 15th last year over 500 jobs were lost. Deatils weren't fully released on how many job opening their would be as the terms wont be released until the end of the month when the final agreement is made.
Maybe this could be a major sponsor for the Miramichi Timberwolves? Who knows? Hopefully they will invest some money in the team to keep them afloat during this economic downturn.
Even investing some money in the City would be nice, but there are no guarentee's that will happen.
Also, Ocean Spray, The American Juice maker is looking to grow cranberries near Rogersville(about 30 minutes from Miramichi.)
According to the Miramichi Leader it could create 100 jobs and it will be the biggest cranberry producer in North America.
Some good news for a part of the province that has been struggling for quite sometime.

I Personally see this as good news for the region.
It's about time that we hear some good news after everything that has happend to the area since the mid 1990's.
It's been rough go for the Miramichi, but it finally looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Miramichi Timberwolves

As a Miramichi Timberwolves fan, I've seen many things over the course of their 9 year history in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League.

The first 3 years were a disaster. Some of the players who were on those teams were not very pretty to watch. God for bid if they ever bring players like back into the orginization.

Some of the trades the orginization made....well...not so good.

This season, however, is a completly different story.

The team is in 2nd place in their division and made a few good trades over the course of the season.

One being in December when they aquired Patrick Louden a Defrenceman for the Restigouch Tigers.

Louden is a gritty defenceman who has already made a positive impact on the team with his hits, smart defensive play and his willingness to drop the gloves.

One trade that I personally think will be a positive impact for the Timberwolves is the aquisition of Defenceman Anthony Pisano from the Pictou County Weeks Crushers for Forward Mike Hynes, a 3rd rounder and future considerations.

Yes, it looks a bit lopsided since Hynes has 27 points in 38 games and is a very skilled players.

Pisano has 1 goal and 8 assists in 29 games with the Crushers, he also has 142 pims.

But look at it this way, The Timberwolves needed to add a Defenceman and did so. Pisano is not flashy whatsoever, but he is decent defensivley and is one of the tougher players in the league.

This move makes the Timberwolves much tougher and improves their defence more than it was before.

Adding a Power Forward to the team would be a great aquisition as well for their playoff run.

With the January 10 Trade Deadline approaching, It will remain to be seen what the Timberwolves, and the other teams will do come Saturday.

Senators Woes

As most of you may know, I cheer for the Ottawa Senators. And the season isn't going so well.

Last night, The Sens lost to the New Jersey Devils 4-3 in Overtime. Ottawa blew three leads in the game of 1-0,2-1 and 3-2.

Why is a team with so much tallent doing so poorly? Well there are several reasons why and one of them is their defence.

Gone are puck moving defenceman Joe Corvo, Wade Redden, Andrej Meszaros and Tom Preissing.

In are Jason Smith, Filip Kuba, Brendan Bell and Alex Picard, who are nowhere near able to move the puck.

Chris Phillips is a -21 and Anton Volchenkov is a -13, no where near the numbers they should be at for being the #1 paring on the team.

Daniel Alfredsson's leadfership has been a question for the past few seasons, Jason Spezza, Dany Heatley and Mike Fisher have no steped up and put up the numbers they should for the amount of money they are being paid.

The lone bright spots on the team are the play of forward Nick Foligno who has more points this season with the Sens than he did all last season and has been working hard all season and defenceman Filip Kuba we leads the team in plus/minus with +8 and in points with 22.

With the way the season is shaping up, it looks like the Sens will more than likely miss the playoffs if they don't turn things around this week.

Even if they do, it may be too late.

If the Sens can't turn things around, Jason Spezza will more than likely be dealt at the trade deadline and the off season will probably be used to rebuilt the team.

Lose it for Tavares anyone?
